not from inside veterinary medicine.
Pawspact was founded by Ghislaine El Madi — from the other side of the waiting room, after watching too many pet owners and rescuers in the UAE quietly give up on animals they loved. Not because they didn't care. Because good care felt out of reach.
Too expensive. Too opaque. Too rushed. Too transactional.
Chapter One
the first attempt was a platform.
The instinct was to fix the problem with technology. If the pain point was connection — pet owners not knowing who to trust, rescuers not knowing where to turn, vets not knowing which animals needed them most — then surely a digital platform could close the gap.
So that's what we built. A tech platform connecting pet owners, rescuers, and veterinarians across the UAE. It worked. People used it. Animals were helped.
But every request carried a story, and the stories started to accumulate in a way that numbers on a dashboard never could.
A kitten with a broken leg whose rescuer had called six clinics and been turned away by five.
A senior dog whose family had been quoted a price they couldn't possibly pay.
A street cat, pregnant again, because no one had offered a low-cost spay when it mattered.
A platform could route these cases. It couldn't heal them.
Chapter Two
the animals didn't need an app. they needed a place.
So we built one.
In 2024, Pawspact Veterinary Clinic opened its doors on Al Tashreef Street in Al Hisn, Abu Dhabi — a full-service veterinary centre built from the ground up on three non-negotiable pillars:

Chapter Four
welfare is a curriculum we're still studying.
Pawspact's approach is grounded in advanced training from the University of Edinburgh's Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies — including specialisations in Animal Health and Welfare, Animal Welfare in the Clinic, and Animal Behaviour and Welfare — alongside coursework in Dog Emotion and Cognition from Duke University.
These aren't decorative. They shape how we design our exam rooms, how we train our team to handle frightened animals, and the ethical standards we hold ourselves to on cases where the right answer isn't the easiest one.
Welfare isn't a marketing word at Pawspact. It's a curriculum we're still studying.
The Pact
a binding promise.
The name Pawspact carries more meaning than it first appears. Pact comes from the Latin pactum — a binding agreement, a promise fastened between two parties and held sacred by both. In Roman tradition, a pactum was weightier than a contract: it was a moral commitment, witnessed and unbreakable, sealed by honour rather than by law.
That's the word we chose deliberately. Because what we offer at Pawspact isn't a service transaction. It's a pact — a quiet, binding agreement between us and every pet family who chooses to walk through our doors, and every street animal who is brought to us without one.
We will tell you the truth about your pet's health, even when the truth is hard.
We will price our care so that love and affordability never have to compete.
We will treat the animal in front of us with the same attention we would give our own.
We will show up for the ones nobody else will treat — because that is where this story began.
We will keep learning, keep improving, and keep raising our standards, for as long as there are animals in this city who need us.
